Martin's Farmstand: U-Pick Saturday June 22, 7 a.m.
Good afternoon everyone! The Greenwood family has almost finished the transition to the farm and we are looking forward to getting to know all of you and turning our full attention to learning from the Martin family and serving you all as a community. The Martin family has been incredibly accomadating and are a wealth of information. We feel incredibly blessed to partner alongside them on the farm.
Fun fact, Desiree Greenwood is in her last year of Midwifery School and will be a practicing midwife by next summer! We are so proud of all her work and look forward to seeing her in action next year.
Now down to business. The berry patches are open Saturday June 22 for picking! We open at 7 a.m. and will have picking available until the patch is picked. We have a lot of ripe berries available and with the weather having cooled some expect good picking conditions. We also have a number of Red Rasberries available for U-Pick! They are ready very early and will be on a first come first serve basis along side the strawberries. The u-pick price is $3.75 a pint. If you have any questions feel free to call us! 315-265-1246
Hours for u-pick are Monday starting at 5 PM; Wednesday, starting 2 PM (no morning picking on Monday’s and Wednesdays); Saturday, starting 7 AM. This repeats through out the whole season. The patch closes when the berries are all picked or at 8 pm on Monday and 6 PM on Wednesday and Saturday.
When you arrive you do not need to stop at the stand to weigh your containers if you know the empty weight already. Also you do not need to stop if you are picking into standard Quart containers.
You have the option of bringing your own containers or buying empties from us. Quart boxes 25 cents each. If you are buying empty containers from us please pay when you get them rather than after you are done picking to minimize confusion as to what is going on.
NO DOGS in the field or stand areas. We will be using the same random picking pattern that we did last year. This means that you may start anyplace you wish in the patches that are open as long as you are not cutting in front of someone. It is mandatory that when you are picking that all the ripe berries are picked as you move No roaming or grazing type picking. A section of row must either be picked or not picked when you leave. We will be scouting the patch and keep suggesting where you will find good picking.
Pricing u-pick: $5 per Quart if less than 8 quarts and $3.40 per quart if more than 8 quarts; $27.20 for an 8 quart tray. All containers are expected to well filled but not heaped. We will adjust prices up or down as needed for over or under-filled containers. By the pound price is $2.30/# (limited to bigger containers or larger amounts). If you pay by credit card there is a 3% surcharge added to the above prices and you will need to use the inside checkout station rather than outside express options. Matthew

Happy Summer! The solstice means that the growing season is in full swing in our part of the world! Check out what is available this week… Beat the heat with some ice cream from Meadowlark, keep your kitchen cool with some homemade bread from Pleasant View, add something unique to your salads with Lambs Quarter from Lost Eden and satisfy your sweet tooth with whoopie pies from Weatherford! The Thomas Family has listed aloe and pothos plants this week and Backwoods Plants always has some interesting specimens like jade and desert rose. Bluff Top has a great selection of fresh herbs; try some fresh basil, chives, parsley, or spearmint. R&D has added a pork sausage this week and maybe some flank steak would make a great weeknight dinner? Look for fresh red onions from Lucky Star, grab a bundle of celosia plants from Michael’s garden or check out a value pack from C3 Beef! We are trying something new this week with our most recent vendor, Justin’s Produce. Look for tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and squash in the vegetables category!

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!
PICKUP TIME is Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m. in Clayton, Clarkesville, or Gainesville.
If you do not get an email ORDER CONFIRMATION after you finish the checkout process, then your order is NOT complete. Head back to the market page, and your order might still be there waiting for you to check out! If you have any trouble or questions at all, we are here to help; simply reply to this email.
Once you place an order, be on the lookout for the order reminder email on Wednesday with further pickup and payment notes. Thanks for your support!

Grumpy Goat: English Muffins, green beans, snap peas, mmmmmmm
Hey everyone,
We’re back! It was so nice to take a few days away from the farm. NH was beautiful this time of year and it was nice to be surrounded by so much family even if it was a somber occasion.
I am taking off with some goats – heading to Iowa in the morning but Matt will be racing around in the heat tomorrow setting up the farm store and harvesting everything for the Sidney Farmers Market. Have some patience with him as he might not be able to restock as speedily as I do( that was a joke – I know I am also slow!!!)
Anyways, onto the important stuff. It’s English Muffin week coming up! Debbie Walker from Walker Cabin Farm will be baking these fresh for our Tuesday pick up. If you want to place an order you can go to the Walker Cabin Farm Facebook page and message Debbie your order. If you for some reason can’t figure it out just let me know what you want and I can order for you. Please get your orders in by 7pm Sunday night.
I will also be opening up our ordering form so if you want any additional bread for Tuesday the option is there! Just don’t order for Friday or Saturday pick up because I won’t be here to bake!
And what you’re all dying to know – veggies this week: beets, turnips, radishes, green beans, snap peas, kohlrabi, a little kale and chard, basil, sorrel, dill, bunch onions, mint….
Champaign, OH: Here We Go!
Just like that, we are back for more weekly ordering fun!!
And, get your raspberries while you can! This may be their only week!!
XOXO,
Cosmic Pam
