Old99Farm Market: Major Food Conference Just Ended but...
Attack On Food And Farmers year 2 was held online Sept 6, 7. You can check the various topics and watch the archived footage. Link to conference
For example California dairyman Mark McCaffee talks for 10 minutes on the bioactives (technical term) in raw milk that are destroyed by pasteurization. Fastforeward to time 06:03:50 on Sept 7th to watch his talk.
Related but sseparate, a spiritual teacher, Sadhguru, has been advocating soil health for past 10 years and I didn’t even know! See the Save Soil video at this link.
World-renowned wellness leader Sadghuru linked soil health to human happiness in this focused campaign, and is spreading the message to his billions of students and followers around the world. What’s well understood from experience by everyone who has already embraced biodiversity and/or animal integration in farming – is now catching hold in all other circles of society.

Martin's Farmstand: Fall is near
Fall is coming, and with it the selection of produce at the stand will shift towards sotrage carrots, onions, winter squash, leeks and so on. Cucumbers are nearing the end of the season and canning tomatoes are available for anyone looking to make sauce. This year we will also be stocking pumpkins for the Halloween season!
As the days cool, attention on the farm shifts to a frenzy of harvest. Potatoes and onions will be dug and stored to cure. Fitting enough winter squash into every nook and cranny, and beets and carrots galore. The Martin Family have been kind enough to teach the Greenwoods the art of food storage. Canning, freezing, and cooking will consistently be happening through the next few weeks.
With the shift in season we would like to note that soon things like cucumbers, basil, green and yellow beans and zuchinni etc. will be finished for the season. So anyone looking to freeze or store, or do some canning should accomplish it sooner rather than later.
As always if you have questions on availability or quantities feel free to give the stand a call!
Matthew

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!
PICKUP TIME is Wednesday from 5-6:30 p.m. in Clayton, Clarkesville, or Gainesville.
If you do not get an email ORDER CONFIRMATION after you finish the checkout process, then your order is NOT complete. Head back to the market page, and your order might still be there waiting for you to check out! If you have any trouble or questions at all, we are here to help; simply reply to this email.
Once you place an order, be on the lookout for the order reminder email on Wednesday with further pickup and payment notes.
Thanks for supporting local farmers!

Watch for our vendors to post amazing fall foods and products over the coming weeks! There are some amazing cuts of beef and pork that would be great in the slow cooker as well as a variety of sausage for some hearty breakfasts or warm dinners! Hoof Hollow Hobbies’ caramels are a tasty treat and Weatherford’s Brown Sugar Pumpkin loaf is a great way to get in a fall mood! Don’t overlook the processed foods category to find a selection of yummy BBQ sauces and pickled foods that go great with all kinds of dishes! Mary-Ann King has some fresh eggplant this week, as well as some lovely peppers plus live lemongrass plants! Justin still has tomatoes, squash, cucumbers and a couple more watermelons! Shop the jams and jellies for your favorite flavors to go with the baked goods you enjoy, or add some local honey to satisfy your sweet tooth! Try some seasoning mixes from McAnulty Mercantile to go with your favorite meats or pair Hoof Hollow Hobbies’ fresh basil leaves with Meadowlark’s Ricotta for some delicious recipes! Don’t forget about Meadowlark’s ice cream; enjoy one of their homemade flavors while it is available! We wish everyone good luck in their respective county fairs over the next few weeks!
